New Delhi: South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia on Thursday unveiled a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) named ‘Syros’ in India, which is likely to boost the company’s market share in the segment.
This is the global unveiling of the car. This is the first time this car has been showcased ever, said Hardeep Singh Brar, Kia India's Senior Vice President and national head of sales and marketing.
He said the price for the new vehicle will be announced at the Bharat Mobility Show that will be held next month.
This will be the fifth SUV model introduced by Kia in the Indian market. Kia Syros will be positioned between Sonet and Seltos.
According to Brar, Kia currently holds around 15 per cent market share in India’s compact and mid-SUV segments. “With the launch of Syros, we are expecting to increase our market share in the segment to 20 per cent,” he said. SUV is the fastest growing segment in India’s car industry.
“With the Syros, we are further enhancing our product portfolio, offering a new species of SUV that combines superior comfort, cutting-edge technology, and bold design,” said Gwanggu Lee, MD and CEO of Kia India.
Kia’s new vehicle will compete in the segment dominated by Tata’s Nexon, Hyundai’s Venue, Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza and Mahindra’s XUV300. The company is slated to start booking for the new vehicle in the first week of January and delivery is expected to begin in early February 2025.
